Barak Hussein Obama
by Rich Carroll
Is it just me, or has anyone else noticed the abrupt disappearance of the name
"Hussein" in liberal media's mention of the Democrat Presidential candidate? Search
as I may, darned if his middle name simply hasn't vanished from the media radar
screen.
Could this be Democrats are ashamed their candidate has a suni Muslim middle name
meaning "young prince"? Oprah never says 'Hussein'. Television newscasters have
dropped his middle name like a hot potato and newspapers, well, they were frequent
with William 'Jefferson' Clinton, but 'Hussein' doesn't register.
Democrats are so loathe to even acknowledge Barack Hussein Obama's middle name,
that they can barely tolerate ANYONE mentioning it without besmirching them as
zealots with evil intentions. Republican strategist Ed Rogers mentioned the "H" word
on Chris Matthew's Hardball, and was immediately attacked by Obama's director of
communications, Robert Gibbs. Gibbs smarmily noted "It wasn't a slip of the tongue,
I know that. You can't solve Iraq with a campaign about people's middle name."
What an undisguised "change the topic/throw some blame" response! I equate it to
"Well, that's a problem for us and so I'm just not going to discuss it."
Barack Obama was listed in the Harvard Law Review as "Barack H. Obama." The
addition of 'Barack' was also new at that point, since Barack Hussein Obama had
gone by the nickname 'Barry' in college.
There can be no doubt that in todays climate Obama's campaign plans to make much
of his diverse/multicultural background. Sadly, our nation seems to have slipped into
the deep and dangerous waters of 'different' equals 'good' or 'worthy,' while
applying virtually no further criteria to qualify anything or anyone. Anything different
is seen as "exotic" and welcomed with open arms; inclusivness is the rule of the day.
Our military, our educational system and indeed, our very government have seen
rising numbers of Muslims. Muslims in the military make demands of OUR tolerance,
Muslims in our culture refuse to tolerate us but sue to force us to accept their
practices, and many schools now teach classes (and like Georgetown, offer Doctorate
programs) on Muslim affairs. To me, this is troubling and should command much of
our attention. I feel this is especially true when someone has taken great care to
OMIT parts of their name and/or background as pertains to Muslim heritage. Barack
Hussein Obama and his campaign have made a conscious decision to go for
multicultural/inclusive appeal, but NOT so far as broadcasting any reference to Islam,
either in name or background. The mainstream media is complicit in this error of
omission.
A cursory understanding of our immigration problems, terrorists living among us,
where they come from and who they are speaks volumes as to the genesis of the
threat. A clue would be... the threat did not originate in Sweden and is not tied to
many named 'Sven.' That which is called 'discrimination,' could just as easily be
called 'noticing a trend' or 'learning from experience.'
Although UN-PC and generally frowned upon, I will say it. I do not want anyone with
ANY ties to our most vocal, dangerous enemies in the world to be my President. Call
it a low tolerance for those who wish me harm or call it outright silliness, but I will
vote for someone with whom I feel comfortable entrusting the awesome power that
is 'Commander in Chief.' The Presidency of the United States is the pinnacle of
political power in the world at present. National campaigns have become about
'packaging.'
Consequently, having a suni name that is also that of a recently executed tyrannical
dictator may not fit into any viable "presidential nominee package." Americans do not
be fooled. The liberal media are just as discriminating as they assume Americans at
large to be. They understand that the name 'Hussein' may not play well for a
Presidential candidate, so they consciously omit it. In essence, the media has
discriminated FOR us; has pre-empted our chance to decide for ourselves!
