Crossing the Rubicon
Chris Allen

Forty nine years before Christ was born, Emperor Julius Caesar violated the law by leading his troops
across the Rubicon river to invade ancient Rome, and a civil war ensued. Leading the troops across the
Rubicon was considered an act of war. From that point forward, nothing was the same, there was no going
back and conflict was unavoidable. Caesar himself recognized this fact and was said to have stated "alea
iacta est," or "the die is cast." The United States Supreme Court, by making NO statement on the issues of
Barack Hussein Obama's eligibility for the Presidency, has conspired with half of the nation to render the
Constitution, the supposedly inviolate code of law protecting each of us, meaningless. This is the point of no
return; an act of war declared against all our laws represent, our way of life.

Years ago the Supreme Court would not, could not, have so publicly ignored the law which they are sworn
to uphold, defend and protect. Judicial watchers have seen this final blow coming. Every politician who has
broken the law and been re-elected or bought his way out of punishment has cajoled us toward this final
and unmistakable offense. Every time an election official has feigned ignorance or equivocated about an
obvious violation of law, we've accepted the dishonesty.

Ultimately, our own commitment to that which protects us has been degraded to the level where, now, our
laws have been rendered meaningless by no less than the highest court in the land.

Many disingenuous politicians will suggest that because there was no set 'committee' designated to make a
determination on "eligibility" of candidates, who are they to step in now and question what the election
hath wrought? Why can't we just 'go with it?' Even Al Gore once cared about the existence of a "controlling
legal authority." "So what" is what our Supreme Court implied when they didn't offer any comment on why
they declined to hear the lawsuit regarding Obama's citizenship. To my confused fellow Americans, I say:
Law enables us to live without being concerned that we will be victims without means of redress. Law is
what keeps us free. Law is important in that it gives structure to our lives and provides assurances as to
what our society values. Today, thanks to our own failures, our law means less than it ever has. The
Supreme Court finally put its stamp of approval on what WE'VE allowed. Now, we're facing the fruition of
many incremental offenses.

If a man is ineligible to serve as our President, it matters not WHO determines it, whether it is some party
election official or the highest court of the land, but that it IS determined. Such "details" are not open to
interpretation. These are written rules and are not flexible; NOT if rule of law matters and is applied.

The 'Rubicon has been crossed; we can't go back. Like the invasion of ancient Rome, the consequences
aren't fully realized yet, but we see it coming. At least half of us here in America understand how we've
been cheated; we feel the blow we've been dealt.

We must, at this point, band together and firmly grasp what's left to us: our children, ourselves and what
rights remain. I believe to battle back and survive the painful times ahead, we will all need our faith. Let's
cling to what WE know to be right and direct it outward when and where we can: TO our children, TO
ourselves and TO those who belittle what's precious to us. Whether it is adhering to the 'rule of law' even
when no enforcement is there, promoting Christmas when we are told we shouldn't, or respecting the gift
our founding fathers bestowed upon us ~ free will... We must implement OUR values as we've not done,
and as has led us to this breaking point. Nothing else is left.

Remember, the Rubicon may have been crossed, but the battle lies ahead. Merry Christmas, and onward
Christian soldiers!
