Freedom Isn't Free
Sue Ikerd
The sun shines on fields at Normandy with crosses overgrown
Gleaming white among the rows stands mine with the word
"UNKNOWN" My name is lost my face forgot I died for lives yet to
be. That you might live in this great land- Freedom isn’t free For
generations they’ve stepped forth, left home and family, Some
served on land, some in air and some served on the sea . They
pledged to preserve, protect and defend our sacred liberty, So
evil would fail and right prevail - Freedom isn’t free Thousands
fought through the years so our country could survive, To secure
the blessings of liberty for those who are now alive , You may
march and protest you have the right to disagree, But remember
the blood that bought this right - Freedom Isn't Free
What American Means to Me
JKarl Miller USMC
Having served in virtually every part of the globe, I have an
appreciation for America that has neither boundaries nor
conditions. I was taught at the earliest age to respect the flag, the
Constitution and the Armed Forces whose members defend
selflessly the freedoms guaranteed us by that Constitution. I was
part that brotherhood of arms for 31 years.
One Independence Day event I was privileged to attend made an
indelible impression on me--one that I will never forget. During
the Bicentennial, I was serving as Marine Corps Legislative Liaison
in the U. S. House of Representatives. On 4 July of that year, I
was present for a Joint Session of Congress where Johnny Cash
performed his classic "The Ragged Old Flag," a presentation so
moving that there was not a dry eye in the House. That
performance said it all. For God, Country and Corps,

The Home Of the Brave
By Thomas Lindaman
When you really think about American history, two things should
come to mind. One, powdered wigs on men...not a good fashion
statement. And two, America is a brave country. America's bravery
is unmatched in all of human history, from the soldiers who
weathered the bitter cold at Valley Forge to the soldiers who wage
war in the intense heat of Iraq. It takes a unique country to create
people who will rise to any challenge and meet it head on time and
time again.
No wonder America is the land of the free and the home of the
brave.

Taking a Look at the Philosophers -
“Social Contract” (John Locke)
Locke's political philosophy found its greatest expression in the
Two Treatises of Civil Government, published anonymously during
the same year that the Essay appeared under his own name. In
the First Treatise Locke offered a quasi-religious attempt to show
that absolute monarchy is the natural system of human social
organization. The Second Treatise on Government develops
Locke's own detailed account of the origin, aims, and structure of
any civil government.
Adopting a general method similar to that of Hobbes, Locke
imagined an original state of nature in which individuals rely upon
their own strength, then described our escape from this primitive
state by entering into a social contract under which the state
provides protective services to its citizens. Unlike Hobbes, Locke
regarded this contract as revocable.
Any civil government depends on the consent of those who are
governed, which may be withdrawn at any time. From the outset,
Locke openly declared the remarkable theme of his political
theory: in order to preserve the public good, the central function
of government must be the protection of private property.
Securing social order through the formation of any government
invariably requires the direct consent of those who are to be
governed.
Locke maintained that when great mistakes are made in the
governance of a commonwealth, only rebellion holds any promise
of the restoration of fundamental rights.

Celebrate America What does America mean to you?

We The People
Paige
As we celebrate our 232nd Anniversary, let us be thankful for the
Freedoms we have enjoyed in our life time and today. Freedoms that
no other society on earth enjoyed like we have enjoyed.
For those of you who take the time to read this newsletter, there is
one thing I ask as an American and friend, think of the future. The
greatest gift we can pass on to the next generation is the same
Freedoms passed onto us.
Many say give up, the Patriots gave up everything and marched in
the snow with frost bite , no shoes with their feet bleeding. Why?
Because they knew freedom and liberty were precious and without
fighting for those rights the patriots and future generations would
never be able to enjoy the freedoms that they longed to have in their
lives.
Can we as a people give up? Can we honestly sit back complacently
and say, “oh well, there is nothing I can do”? Take a look at your
children, grandchildren, the children around your neighborhood,
the newest addition to your family, and think about what will their
future will be like.
The question is can you honestly deny them the same freedoms we
have enjoyed? As we grow older and move out of the way for the next
generation, can we honestly be at peace that we gave up so easily?
On this 4th of July , 2008, as we celebrate another year of “freedom”
think about what men and women have endured for us to go to the
park, the river, the backyard, the swimming pool, or anywhere else
you may be during this time and remember this …blood was shed for
us to have this freedom and always remember —”Freedom comes
with a price for Freedom isn’t Free”
God Bless You One and ALL

This page is dedicated to those that gave their "ALL". Without them, we
would not celebrate today! Thank you for your support. Never Give up for
Freedom is "NOT" Free. The Freedoms we enjoy today were bought by the
ulitimate sacrifice.
